About the event
Embodied Kin: Listening to the Animal Within
There are parts of us that know through sensation, movement, rhythm, impulse, image, and instinct long before we have words for what we are experiencing.
Embodied Kin: Listening to the Animal Within is a playful 90-minute somatic workshop exploring our relationship with these more instinctive and animal aspects of ourselves.
Through guided somatic practices, movement, creative exploration, reflection, and open play, we will experiment with stepping out of habitual ways of thinking and listening more closely to what feels alive in the body.
What happens when we become curious about an impulse rather than immediately organizing or explaining it? What qualities are already present beneath the surface? What happens when alertness, groundedness, curiosity, softness, fierceness, stillness, play, or joy are given a little more room to emerge?
We may explore these qualities through movement, posture, gesture, sound, imagination, drawing, writing, symbol, or simply noticing…
