Bio
Nicholas Bolton, M.S.Ed., LPCC, SEP, brings nearly two decades of experience in mental health, integrating clinical practice, administrative leadership, trauma-informed care, and client advocacy. His expertise lies at the intersections of addiction, emotional well-being, and complex trauma, with a deep commitment to holistic, body-centered approaches to healing.
From an early age, Nicholas was captivated by the unseen forces that shape human connection and inner life. As a curious child, his mom recalls him asking why all the moms smiled at one another, intrigued by subtle social dynamics. His fascination with flow and attunement deepened during his basketball years, where he honed a heightened awareness of proprioception and coordination through ball-handling drills and team play. These experiences awakened a lifelong curiosity about how bodies move in harmony, how people connect, and the patterns that shape human behavior.
In college, this curiosity evolved into a passion for psychology, driven by a desire to better understand himself, others, and the systems shaping the human experience. After earning his psychology degree in 2008, Nicholas began his career as a case manager in 2009, working directly with clients to navigate complex systemic challenges. This frontline experience inspired him to pursue leadership roles, including Client Rights Officer and Quality Improvement Assistant Director at a large behavioral health agency. In these positions, he led initiatives on Safety, Compliance, Accreditation, and Adverse Incident Committees, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the behavioral health system—its strengths, limitations, and the systemic barriers that hinder holistic care. These experiences illuminated critical gaps in trauma-informed practices and revealed the need for approaches that integrate mind, body, and spirit to address trauma’s root causes.
Determined to bridge these gaps, Nicholas returned to graduate school while continuing his leadership work, earning his M.S.Ed. in 2015 and becoming a licensed therapist in 2016. Since then, he has specialized in trauma-informed care, integrating Somatic Experiencing®, Polyvagal Theory, and mindfulness practices to support clients in reconnecting with their bodies’ innate wisdom. Deeply influenced by Taoist principles of flow, balance, and interconnectedness, Nicholas guides clients in resolving early developmental trauma, attachment wounds, and relational challenges, empowering them to rediscover their resilience and renew their connection to life.
Beyond his professional work, Nicholas remains deeply engaged in his own exploration of mind, body, and environment. He finds inspiration in nature, practicing Taiji, creating art and music, and spending meaningful time with friends and family. At home, he cherishes the companionship of his beloved feline guardian, Vincent. Through his personal and professional journey, Nicholas continues to help others restore the flow of connection within themselves, their relationships, and the natural world.
